Alpaca Dentist visits Auravale

Earlier this month we had Alison Quagliani from Alpaca Dental Services visit us.

We had a couple of alpacas whose teeth seemed long at the front and one who kept placing wads of grass in her cheek pouch.

Alison brings with her everything needed to treat your alpaca’s teeth issues – all she required from us was an area preferably undercover as we are in the midst of winter, access to water and power.

We had already selected the animals to be seen and Alison had a quick look at each of them in the yards to confirm they required attention.

Flame was the first to be seen, as you can see in the pictures her teeth were a little long at the front, so they were trimmed. She was well secured to avoid accidents and was very well behaved during the process which only took about 10-15 minutes from begining to end.

Akemi our alpaca who was placing the wads of grass in her check pouches was doing this as her teeth were very sharp and cutting her cheeks. She had worked out her own solution but is much happier after having these sharp back teeth filed.

If you have any alpacas who are loosing weight, not feeding as usual or have obvious teeth issues I can highly recommend Alpaca Dental Services
